Bita A. Kash, PhD, MBA, FACHE
Dr. Kash is an assistant professor at the Department of Health Policy and Management. Her areas of research include organizational performance, nursing home staffing and cost, specializing in workforce issues and management capacity building. She is currently working on a research project, funded through the Health Science Center (HSC) Research Development Grant, examining organizational and work factors affecting quality and overall performance in nursing homes by applying mixed methods. Dr. Kash teaches the two Strategic Planning and Marketing course sequence which is required for students in the MHA program. Prior to joining the faculty at Texas A&M University HSC, she worked as a healthcare consultant with RSM McGladrey, Inc. As a consulting department manager and project team manager she has been directly involved in numerous planning projects, including a two-year strategic planning process for a not-for-profit long term care system, facilitating corporate level strategic planning activities and assisting facility administrators translate corporate goals into business plans and short-term operational budgets. During this current year she has authored several articles, including "Comparing Staffing Levels in the Online Survey Certification and Reporting (OSCAR) System With the Medicaid Cost Report Data: Are Differences Systematic?," and “Nursing Home Spending, Staffing, and Turnover.” Dr. Kash is a certified health care executive and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
