USA Center for Rural Public Health Preparedness

In August 2005, the USA Center for Rural Public Health Preparedness was designated by CDC as one of four Centers for Public Health Preparedness charged with training the public health workforce to respond to threats to our nation's health. The mission of these centers, now numbering a total of 27, is to work together to improve the capacity of front line public health and health care workers through education and training.  The USA Center was proposed to support the development of skills and competencies for emergency response and preparedness in primarily rural states and rural sections of the country—the only center to have this specific rural focus.
